Recently, he proudly presented the first edition of his photo book Ta(r)ttoo to comedian Leo van Alkemade at the EICAS museum, where his impressive exhibition was on display. The power of black and white

Peter’s passion for black-and-white photography runs deep. “Black-and-white has a purity that you don’t find in color. It captures the essence—the emotion, the texture, the composition,” Peter explains. His preference for analog photography stems from the authenticity of the process. “You have to be more conscious of what you see because there is no room for mistakes. It forces you to truly connect with your subject.” That connection is palpable in each of his works, whether portraits, landscapes, or his latest project on tattoos.

Pushing boundaries with AI

In addition to his classical photography, Peter also embraces modern technology to add new dimensions to his work. AI, in particular, plays an increasingly significant role in his creative process. “With AI, I can create compositions that would be impossible with traditional methods. But my focus remains the same: capturing the essence. The technology is a tool, not the goal itself.”

The book combines powerful black-and-white portraits with the personal stories of the tattooed individuals, creating an intimate and profound experience.

The presentation of the first edition to Leo van Alkemade at the EICAS museum was a special moment for Peter. “Leo appreciates authenticity, and he immediately understood the message of the book. It was an honor to present my work to him in such an inspiring setting.”

International recognition

Peter’s work has gained attention not only in the Netherlands but also internationally. His black-and-white photography speaks a universal language. “Whether you are in the Netherlands or on the other side of the world, everyone understands the emotion in my work,” Peter says. The growing demand for his artwork from both domestic and international collectors confirms his unique talent and vision.

What drives Peter?

Despite his success, Peter remains humble about his work. For him, everything revolves around storytelling. “I hope my photos make people pause and think about what lies beneath the surface. Whether it’s a tattoo, a portrait, or an AI composition, there is always a deeper layer. That’s what I want to make visible.”

He also wants to share his knowledge and experience with others. Since 2015, Peter has been active as a photography instructor, mentoring young talents. “Working with young adults gives me energy. They bring fresh ideas and challenge me to stay sharp.” He also regularly conducts workshops and masterclasses, where he shares his passion for analog photography along with his insights into AI.

Future plans

Peter’s future plans are as versatile as his work. He continues to focus on human expression while exploring ways to further integrate his classic style with technology. “I keep challenging myself to tell new stories. What those will be, I prefer to let evolve naturally.”
